I create them because I like to destroy them

Recently, I've been
discovering a taste for
'destroying' my own work.
Whether it's cutting them
up, folding them, painting
heavily over their features,
or fixing their backs to
stone. The pretty part
comes in alleviating
them from these stresses.
Handing them a warm blanket,
a hot cup of cocoa and washing
away their bruises. Like the
end to a scene full of suspense,
there's beauty in salvation.
And I'm a cruel one..

In the 1st Year: Self-Portrait

I recall just before the start of college, each of us had to produce a self-portrait to present to the class on the first day. My representatives were a collective of naked girls. I don't even look like them! But we did share the same length in hair.

I drew myself life-like too, as an entry point to the task- but I felt more comfortable hiding behind this shroud. Some of my class suggested that I could be shy (absence of face), or a Pisces (two fishes), no one had any idea why I was naked and my teacher thought me rather enigmatic.

The last drawing is my final. If you can guess what this is about I'll confirm so!

My other memory relating to this, is of a get-together outside of college with the 2nd and 3rd years of the time. I had been the only 1st year! Which was a nervous prospect. And when they asked to see my sketchbook.. Oh dear, because I forgot how bondage-ish some of these were! I only recall that it had felt like quite a mortifying discovery upon a first meeting whence they turned the sketchbook to these naked girls..! But in the end, the guys were quite nice and open about them. *-phew!*

Back to College

Today marked the start of college. Feels good to be back! We have 6:30 end to days now. I'm pretty exhausted. ( Matt is drawing me elephants on Skype. And I'm back to my tiny handwriting. )

Coffee-Drinking Fortune Dragon

"I think the best
thing about today
was seeing Matt
smile. A really
wild smile."

My boyfriend, Matt, was overjoyed when he recently told me of finding work within a Coffee Shop.
To celebrate I wanted to make plenty of sushi and a card. The sushi has yet to happen. And as for the card..

Well, I had a better idea..!

Matt's sign in Chinese astrology is a dragon.

The colour red is a symbol of good luck, gold symbolises wealth
and happiness. ..So I guess this is somewhat of a good luck charm!

One of my Favourite Places to Be

I love reading and I am a slow reader. My teacher asks me to read a book every week. I told him: "I can not read and especially that quick!" "You can read" he says. So I just did it.

Books I have read this Summer:

[The Pillow Book]
Sei Shonagon

[Dream Story]
Arthur Schnitzer

[Alice's Adventures in Wonderland]
Lewis Carroll

Often, I will annotate books as it helps me to focus and reminds me of my first reactions:

Dream Story by Arthur Schnitzer. This is my idea of the most beautiful writing!

I was drawn to King Lear out of leisure as I'm a huge Akira Kurosawa fan! Ran is based on King Lear.

There are times where I don't understand at all the thing I'm reading! I'm really terrible with American slang for instance (which makes me even worse when it comes to made-up American slang). For that, I've considered purchasing Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs on audio.

158. Things That Make One Impatient

"It is night and one is lying awake, feeling ill and frightened. How impatient one is for the dawn to come!"

-Sei Shonagon, The Pillow Book.
